A NEW ADDITION TO SUNDAY BRUNCH

Welcome back to ThisJewCanQue! Today, we’re firing up the Flatrock Traeger for a mouthwatering brunch delight: French Toast Ham & Cheese Sliders. Perfect for lazy weekend mornings or any time you’re craving a cozy yet indulgent meal, these sliders are a symphony of flavors that’ll leave you craving more.

Last year, King’s Hawaiian launched Slider Sunday, touting the many ways you can enjoy sliders on the weekend with family and friends. We think that this recipe is the perfect way to kick off Slider Sunday!

HAM AND CHEESE SLIDERS WITH A TWIST

These sliders are a delightful twist on the classic French toast, bringing together the sweetness of King’s Hawaiian Sweet rolls with the savory goodness of ham and Swiss cheese. The combination of flavors and textures is simply irresistible, making it a crowd-pleaser for both kids and adults alike.

LIKE A CROQUE MONSIEUR

A Croque Monsieur is a classic French sandwich that’s as elegant as it is indulgent. It consists of slices of ham and Gruyère cheese sandwiched between two slices of crusty bread, typically brioche or pain de mie. What sets the Croque Monsieur apart is its rich béchamel sauce, which is spread over the sandwich before it’s topped with more cheese and baked or grilled until golden and bubbly. The result is a decadent combination of creamy, cheesy goodness with a hint of savory ham, making it a beloved staple of French cuisine. These ham and cheese sliders are sort of a take on this classic French dish.

SLIDERS THE WHOLE FAMILY WILL ENJOY

As a dad and teacher who loves cooking up delicious meals in the backyard, I’m always on the lookout for creative recipes that are both easy to make and incredibly tasty. These French Toast Ham & Cheese Sliders are inspired by my passion for blending sweet and savory flavors in simple yet satisfying dishes.

Our 2 year old twins really loved these sliders. It was a perfect blend of lots of their favorite foods– French toast, ham and cheese, and sweet!

EASY PANTRY AND FRIDGE INGREDIENTS

For this recipe, you’ll need King’s Hawaiian Slider buns, eggs, cream, brown sugar, thinly sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and powdered sugar. These ingredients come together to create a flavor-packed experience that’ll have your taste buds dancing with delight.

KEY INGREDIENTS

  • King’s Hawaiian Sweet Slider Rolls
  • Eggs
  • Half and Half or Heavy Cream
  • Vanilla
  • Butter
  • Thinly sliced ham (we used ham we made on the Traeger the night before)
  • Swiss cheese

HOW TO PUT THESE SLIDERS TOGETHER

Start by slicing the King’s Hawaiian Slider buns in half and dipping them in a mixture of eggs, cream, and vanilla to create the French toast. Then, cook them to perfection on the Flatrock Traeger griddle. Meanwhile, frizzle the ham until it’s nice and hot. Assemble the sliders by layering the hot ham and Swiss cheese between the French toast slices, then return the sandwich to the grill to cook until the cheese is melted and gooey. Finish off with a dusting of powdered sugar for the perfect sweet and savory touch.

WHY COOKING THESE FRENCH TOAST SLIDERS ON THE FLATROCK WORKS

Cooking these sliders on the Traeger Flatrock adds a unique feature that it was made on a griddle in your back yard. While most Traegers provide a wood-fired flavor that is unique to Traeger, the simplicity of cooking on the Flatrock means brunch will be on the table in no time. Plus, the even heat distribution of the griddle ensures that each slider is perfectly cooked every time, with crispy edges and a gooey center.
