Equipment

  • Grill (Gas Grill or Weber Spirit)
  • Cheese grater
  • Mixing bowl
  • Burger press
  • Parchment paper
  • Tongs
  • Meat thermometer
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Ingredients

For the butter burgers

  • 2 lbs ground beef 80/20 or 85/15 preferred
  • 4 tbsp Banner Butter Honey Habanero Butter frozen and grated
  • 1 tbsp Alvin Cailan’s Everything SZN seasoning or salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns brioche or sesame seed preferred
  • 4 slices Havarti cheese or cheese of choice
  • Optional: extra Banner Butter for finishing

For the honey corn slaw

  • 1.5 cups fresh sweet corn cut off the cob
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes quartered
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 –2 tsp clover honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Butter: Place the Honey Habanero Butter in the freezer for 30–45 minutes, until firm. Grate the frozen butter using a cheese grater and set aside.
  • Make the Burger Mix: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, grated butter, and seasoning. Mix gently by hand to combine, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  • Form Patties: Divide the beef into 4 equal portions. Place each portion between squares of parchment paper and use a burger press to form uniform patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Chill until ready to grill.
  • Make the Slaw: In a medium bowl, combine corn, tomatoes, green onion, basil, and cilantro. Drizzle with honey and olive oil, then season with salt and pepper. Toss gently and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Preheat the Grill: Heat your gas grill (or other grill) to medium-high, around 450°F.
  • Grill the Patties: Place patties directly over the heat. Sear for 2–3 minutes per side. Lower heat or move to indirect heat to finish cooking until internal temp reaches 135°F (medium-rare) to 145°F (medium).
  • Add Cheese: In the final minute of cooking, top each burger with cheese and close the lid to melt.
  • Toast the Buns: While the burgers rest, toast the buns face-down on the grill until golden brown.
  • Assemble the Burgers: Place the grilled burger on the bottom bun, top with a generous spoonful of honey corn slaw, and finish with the top bun. Optionally, add a pat of Banner Butter to the bun before serving.
  • Serve: Serve immediately with chips or grilled veggies and enjoy.
