Homemade Cheese Sauce
This cheese sauce can be adapted for a number of uses-- from mac-n-cheese to cheesesteaks!

- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- ½ cup cream or milk
- 1-2 cups shredded cheese any type works
- 1 tsp powdered mustard
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- several dashes your favorite hot sauce
- salt & pepper to taste
Melt the butter in the saucepan.
Once it has started to brown, stir in the flour and cook to make a roux.
Whisk to combine and allow to slightly brown.
Slowly add the milk/cream and stir to combine fully.
Cook on low heat to thicken slightly, whisking often.
Add mustard, garlic and hot sauce and stir well.
Begin stirring in shredded cheese and mix until well melted and combined.
Season with salt and pepper to taste, and use immediately or cover and reheat for future use.
